Adventure Box Kids puts an emphasis on music education for the UK’s children. Our music education allows us to work closely with children by creating an individual plan that is unique to their learning capabilities. Each lesson is based on the key features of singing and dictation, while introducing inquisitive ways of learning. For our dance classes, choreography is used to improve children’s coordination as well as physical development. Our drama classes explore the world of imagination as we use situations to re-create old stories, as well as create interesting characters that emphasizes character development. Here are some of the benefits associated with our music program:
Hyper-Connectivity of the Brain
Case studies have shown that the brains of musicians are unique. When a child is exposed to music, their brain is forced to work harder to process the incoming information. Music stimulates senses, since music involves interpreting and understanding the sound coming from instruments, the tactile feedback playing said instruments; while still being cognisant of cadences and rhythms. Children who undergo music instruction and education have shown marked changes in their brain’s networks.
Augmented Temporal Skills
Music has shown a link between spatial intelligence and causal links in the brain. This means that understanding music can actually help children envision various elements that should go together. Think of maths – where the brain is forced to think of situational experiences when solving a word problem. Music instruction reliably improves the spatial-temporal skills of children. This aspect of music education can be particularly beneficial for situations where solving a problem requires multiple steps. It’s safe to say that early music education can prop up potential influencers in engineering, mathematics, and architecture as adults.
Connection between High IQ Levels and Music Education
A study by the University of Toronto at Mississauga has noted that children who undergo several weeks of voice and piano lessons experience a small, but measurable IQ increase. The six-year-olds in the study were cut into three different groups – one group was exposed to drama lessons, another was exposed to only music lessons, and a third group had no lessons. After several weeks, the children’s IQs were tested, finding that those who were exposed to music lessons tested on average three IQ points higher than the other groups.
Improved Test Scores
A study by the University of Kansas, has revealed that students in elementary school who have superior marks in music education is correlated with higher scores on standardised tests. On average, these musically inclined students received about 20 percent higher marks on subjects covering maths and English. One of the interesting aspects of the study is that this benefit is shared across all socioeconomic backgrounds. The study has noted that the concentration that is required for the training typically is transferred over during test preparedness.
Outside from better test scores, musically inclined students are connected with better memory recall. Music education usually requires memorisation of notes, sheet music, and even muscle memory when playing certain instruments. Formal training in music is associated with cognitive strengths like verbal recall.
All of our classes are provided by fully qualified, and experienced music education, drama, and dance teachers. The classes focus on the unique development of each student, ensuring that progress in the class grows as the kids become more comfortable.
